Just bottled a few weeks prior to this tasting, the 2012 Cote Rotie Fortis has a darker slant, with lots of black and blue fruits, rose petal, violets and mint. It is medium to full-bodied, gorgeously textured and pure, with a sexy, voluptuous style that's hard to resist. The 2011 is showing slightly more character at present, but both are beautiful Cote Rotie to drink it their first 10-12 years of life.

I had a fantastic visit with winemaker Stephan Montez, and this top-notch estate fashions a bevy of brilliant Condrieu and Côte Rôtie. During the visit, I was able to do a vertical of each of his Côte Rôties (the les Grandes Places back to '97) but didn't have time to get those reviews into this report. I'll publish those reviews as a stand alone article at a later date.
