As difficult as it is to believe, the 2010 Cote Rotie Les Grandes Places is even better. Melted chocolate, espresso roast, spring flower and bacon fat notes as well as a concentrated mouthfeel give this wine a less exotic character than the Fortis, but provide a more classic Cote Rotie aromatic and flavor profile. A massive Cote Rotie with moderate tannins and fabulous extract and concentration, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep for two decades thereafter.

One of my favorite young growers in the Northern Rhone is Stephan Montez. Both 2010 cuvees are spectacular.

No known American importer.
