While I wasn’t able to taste the 2012, the 2013 Saint Joseph Cuvée du Papy has lots of potential and will certainly be a very good wine. Exhibiting lots of raspberry fruit, violets, spring flowers and good minerality, it’s medium-bodied, supple and seamless. More pretty than rich and powerful, with a classic feel and excellent balance, drink it on release and over the following 4-6 years.

I had a fantastic visit with winemaker Stephan Montez, and this top-notch estate fashions a bevy of brilliant Condrieu and Côte Rôtie. During the visit, I was able to do a vertical of each of his Côte Rôties (the les Grandes Places back to '97) but didn't have time to get those reviews into this report. I'll publish those reviews as a stand alone article at a later date.
